A lover of fashion, pink, R&B, art, family time, poetry, education, and birth work
Hi and welcome! I'm Brejanae your full spectrum doula serving Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. As your dedicated companion through the myriad of experiences surrounding pregnancy, birth, and beyond, I'm here to provide support that embraces the full spectrum of your unique journey. From prenatal care labor & delivery, postpartum support, and grief support, I'm committed to nurturing your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being every step of the way. Let's embark on this transformative journey together, with compassion, understanding, and empowerment at the forefront.
My passion for working with children began in my youth, playing teacher for hours at my grandmother's daycare. Despite the children's protests, school was in session! After high school, I pursued an interest in education, which eventually led me to explore entrepreneurship through nannying. This career allowed me to continue working with children while enjoying greater flexibility.
My experience with various families in Seattle, Washington, sparked my interest in birth work. I was introduced to the role of a postpartum doula while serving a family, a concept unfamiliar to me at the time. Curiosity piqued by conversations and observations, I embarked on a journey to learn more about birth work, aligning with my goal to advance my career in a meaningful direction.
I have completed full spectrum doula training with Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings and am a part of the Swedish Hospital Doula Program. Additionally, I hold a certification as a miscarriage and bereavement doula from The Miscarriage Doula (bereavement doula collective) and am currently enrolled to become a certified lactation consultant through Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings.
For me, being a birth worker is a calling that demands compassion, understanding, and patience. It fulfills my lifelong desire to help others. As an African American woman, I am cognizant of the racial disparities in healthcare and am committed to using my skills to advocate for my clients, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, or gender.
Now let’s talk about grief and Pregnancy loss
As a certified bereavement and miscarriage doula, I am well-versed in the philosophy of miscarriage and the stages of grief. My role is to support you through losses, including miscarriage, stillbirth, and beyond.
Losing a loved one can leave us feeling lost and bewildered. As one of thirteen siblings, I have experienced the loss of two siblings less than a year apart. The thought of losing a sibling was unimaginable; I recall the days of carefree play and simplicity when we were all together. Death often catches us off guard, striking regardless of age or health. It's a difficult journey that can leave us feeling isolated and bewildered during the grieving process. Grief is anything but linear, often accompanied by a whirlwind of emotions. You might experience sudden tears during moments of happiness, or feel guilt and sorrow on holidays and birthdays. Over time, while others appear to move on, you may still be navigating your emotions. Adhering to a perceived linear path of grief can hinder the connection with your feelings. Along this journey, you might part ways with those you expected to be supportive. Your partner and family might not meet your expectations, intensifying the feeling of solitude. However, the memories of your loved ones endure through you, teaching you to live with loss rather than to simply "move on."
In my capacity as a bereavement doula, I offer a shoulder to cry on and reasons to smile. I am here to listen, provide insights into the grieving process, and offer a sympathetic ear for your thoughts and feelings.
I am eager to serve as your full-spectrum doula. If you believe we would work well together, please don't hesitate to reach out for a consultation!
